I love Monday Mornings
This book was written to encourage teachers and parents of young children by telling stories generated in my own classroom or in my home.
I am happy to let you know that two of my books, I Love Monday Morning and Don’t Miss School on Mondays! are being republished and a Spanish edition of the second book will be available soon.
I wrote these books to encourage teachers and parents with young children to enjoy the time they have with these little people. My husband Jerry and I both enjoy working with children. I was a teacher for over 30 years, with most of my years in first grade in San Antonio, TX. He was a career YMCA director, also mostly in San Antonio. Both of us had professions that we loved. In fact, we don’t ever want to stop teaching children. Even though we are retired now, we still want to work with children. We teach toddlers in Sunday School and have a Bible Club of K-5th kids in our home weekly. In addition, we take care of our great granddaughter, almost 2, when her parents, both doctors. are working. This has been a real joy for us. We love to watch the progression of learning in this little one.
Here are things people said after reading one of the books.
"I have read your wonderful book, and now I am even more excited than before about having you speak to our student teachers and their parents."
"I enjoyed reading you book so much and had a difficult time choosing just one excerpt from such a wonderful collection of funny and heartwarming stories."
"Don't Miss School on Mondays! does the best job of any book I've seen to encourage teachers and other educators to embrace teaching as a higher calling and an act of social justice. Pat James’ true stories, required readings from the scriptures, and homework will help any teacher to keep a heart for teaching through the good times and bad. In a society where teachers are asked to do everything and often to do it in a cookie-cutter sort of mentality, Pat instills the art of teaching as well. For the teacher or former teacher, Sunday School teacher, or any educator who cares deeply about children, this book is required reading. I highly recommend it for a heart -lift and a laugh as well. Thank you, Pat, for sharing this wonderful sequel to I Love Monday Mornings."
"It made me laugh and cry, often at the same time. We could use some of the chapters in youth to spin off lessons."
"Your book is so perfect! I have lent mine to some student teachers here…I laughed and cried all through your book."
"I laughed and cried. You are so right – I could have written it myself as we have had so many of the same thoughts and experiences. You said it better though!"
"If there is a need for teachers in heaven, I want to be next door to you,"
"Your book is absolutely wonderful! I feel so blessed that two of my kids were lucky enough to have you as their first grade teacher,"
"I have been so blessed by your books. When stressed I take a time out, read a bit and then I’m ready to talk to God."
